Researchers find new butterfly species


A new species of butterfly has been discovered by an all-Indian research team in the 
Agasthyamala region of Western Ghats.

· Name: Nacaduba sinhala ramaswamii sadasivan
· Family: Lycaenid
· Genus: Nacaduba
· It is a new sub-species of the six line blue butterfly.
· Line blues are broadly classified according to the number of lines or bands seen in the underside of the forewing as four-line blues and six-line blues.
· Distribution: India and Sri Lanka, whole of southeastern Asia, Australia and Samoa.
· Description: Hairy eyes, male wings with purple gloss on the upper side, and upper side of the both sexes with dull whitish striae.
